Over 130 professionals from the retail, refrigeration and cold chain sectors took part in ATMOsphere Network South Korea 2026, organised by Arneg Korea in collaboration with ATMOsphere on 25 June in Seoul.
The event provided an important opportunity to discuss global trends in natural refrigerants, developments in South Korean legislation and the applications of CO₂ technology in the commercial refrigeration sector.
The workshop was opened by Sungkyu Lee, CEO of Arneg Korea, who highlighted how the Korean market is entering a new phase in the transition to natural refrigerants. The company currently operates around 50 CO₂ refrigeration systems across Korea and international markets, whilst over 200 new installations are set to come online in the coming months.
Among the key presentations, Jan Dusek, Co-founder and COO of ATMOsphere, outlined the global growth of CO₂ refrigeration, with over 150,000 transcritical systems installed worldwide, highlighting the significant opportunities for growth in the South Korean market.
During the event, Arneg Korea also presented its CO₂ Total Solution, an integrated offering that includes design, manufacturing, installation and after-sales support, alongside its proprietary platform for automated system design, developed to optimise processes, reduce the risk of error and ensure the highest quality at every stage of the project.
The seminar concluded with a presentation of the case study on the Baekyangsa Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, South Korea’s first supermarket to be fitted with a transcritical CO₂ booster system. Based on actual operating data for 2024 and 2025, the store recorded a cumulative reduction of 38.4% in electricity consumption compared with a nearby conventional supermarket using HFC refrigerants, with savings reaching 48.5% during the peak summer season.
Through initiatives such as ATMOsphere Network South Korea 2026, Arneg Korea reaffirms its leading role in promoting sustainable refrigeration, bringing its engineering expertise, technological innovation and practical experience to the market.
